Serkan Birgel
Research Analyst
Serkan Birgel is a research analyst contributing to the Data Insights team at Guidehouse Insights. His interests revolve around emerging technologies and renewable energy, with a focus on carbon capture and storage (CCS), smart cities, carbon pricing, and energy geopolitics.
Prior to joining Guidehouse Insights, Birgel was a member of the international media and worked in the energy and technology consulting sectors. He holds a DPhil. from the School of Geography, University of Oxford, where his thesis covered natural resource geopolitics with a focus on the global natural gas industry. Birgel also holds an MA in geopolitics, territory, and security from King’s College London and a BSc. in geography from Royal Holloway, University of London.
